Unplanned Plans...Diagnosis

A very different plan...

Monday through Friday around 6am you can find me walking laps around a field next to my house with my two dogs jogging in front. If you sneak up on me, you might also hear me talking. It's possible I'm talking to one of my daughter's with my earbuds in, but most likely you will have come upon me chatting with God.

Last week I was walking and talking to God...well...I was more complaining to God...about my morning. It had not gone as planned and I was not happy about it!

So as I'm walking I let God know that I originally had this great plan that was going to get my day started off right. It was going to start out in a way that would glorify Him and He was going to love it! But people stepped in and ruined it!

As I was telling him this a thought came into my head that I feel was from Him..."No, it did not go as you planned, but it did go as I planned."

Ouch!!

I was reminded of the verse from Jeremiah 29:11a..."For I know the plans I have for you..."

My change of plans for the day was not a change of His plans.

He knows.

The reminder that He gave me in the field that day came to mind again a few days later when I sat with the orthopedic surgeon as he explained to me that four weeks before when I fell, I shredded the largest muscle/tendon in my shoulder as I tore it completely off of the bone, along with my bicep muscle. I needed surgery to repair it.

I wasn't terribly shocked at this as I felt pretty sure that something was torn. What I was shocked at was when he began to describe the plan for the 6-12 month recovery that would take place over the summer.

It was very different than my plan for the summer.

My plan included running my first 5K, kayaking as much as possible, pickleball with my hubby, golfing with my brother, camping, swimming, Boundary Waters with my girls, weekly cookouts with my community, and spending tons of time with my grandkids who are coming for a summer visit!

This new plan included kicking my summer off with surgery, sleeping in a recliner for several weeks, an immobilized right arm for at least six weeks, learning to use my left hand for everyday activities, and no golf, swimming, or pickleball for most of the summer.

"For I know the plans I have for you..."

"For I know the plans I have for you..."

"For I know the plans I have for you..."

How can we truly love the one we do not know?

My prayer mimics that of Paul in Ephesians 1… I pray that through these writings we all might gain spiritual wisdom and insight so that we can know Him more…love Him more…and serve Him more
